Introduction: Z408 is a kind of cast iron electrode with Ni-Fe alloy core wire and strong reducibility graphite type coating. It has some characteristics like high strength, good plasticity, low coefficient of linear expansion, etc. The crack-resistance for gray cast iron is similar with that of Z308, but the crack-resistance for spheroidal graphite cast iron is higher than that of Z308. It is also effective for cast iron with high phosphorus content (0.2%P). The machinability is a little worse than that of Z308 and Z508. Used for welding gray cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron under normal temperature or preheated a little (to about 200℃). AC/DC.
