The integration of anchor flanges within a pipeline when set in concrete disallow the movement of the pipeline at certain predetermined locations this immobilises them to prevent any flex. This in turn transfers the stresses to external structures. Anchor flanges are commonly used to fix subsea pipelines to platform structures.
